9 Best Things You  Have To know  About YouTube Monetization

YouTube monetization and earning money on YouTube is something that more content creators want to know about, so today I'm going to share with you nine things you probably don't know about YouTube monetization.

Youtube Shopping and Merch Self

This is a recent update to YouTube monetization that falls under the category of YouTube shopping. YouTube Shopping used to be the YouTube merch shelf where you could sell print-on-demand things beneath your videos, but it's now much more.

To begin with, you don't have to have 10000 subscribers to have access to it; they gave it to every single content creator with 1000 subscribers as long as you're monetized in the YouTube partner program. However, there is a twist to this; now you not only get to sell stuff with spring for creators and spread shop, where I sell my merch, but you also get to sell with Shopify, which opens up to digital products manufactured and handcrafting products as an option.

You also have a new tool with YouTube tag products, which allows people to click directly interactively with the videos and be brought to the option to buy a product mentioned in the video, which is significant for creators and something you probably didn't know.

Youtube Shorts Creator Fund

You may make money from YouTube Shorts without being a member of the YouTube Partner Program or having an officially monetized channel by using the YouTube Shorts Creator Fund.

This is great news because roughly 50 of the content creators earning from YouTube shorts aren't even in the YouTube partner program, which means there are more opportunities to earn even if you have a viral video as a shorts creator but don't quite meet the monetization requirements, so this is great news.

Youtube Doesn't Pay Taxes for You

I bet you didn't know that YouTube doesn't pay taxes for you. It takes a cut of your earnings, but it doesn't take any of those earnings for taxes and doesn't pay those for you like an employer. You're not an employee of YouTube; you're an independent contractor. You don't get a w-2 if you're in the United States; you get what's called a 10 99 like when I was doing work for clients.

Youtube Short Don't Count Towards Your 4k hours

Youtube shorts do not count towards your 4 000 hours of watch time to get monetized, or at least most of them do. Youtube shorts they may as well just tell you it doesn't count towards your monetization requirement for the 4 000 notch hours because what they mean is it doesn't count if those are views from the short shelf but that's where videos go viral and that's how you get all of those views so that's really what matters here if it's.

So, shorts don't matter when it comes to becoming monetized on YouTube unless they help you achieve 1000 subscribers.

Youtube Monetization Revenue Splits

I'm sure you didn't know all the details of the YouTube revenue splits when you get monetized if you're a seasoned creator you probably know this but for those of you who aren't in the know when it comes to your ad revenue it's a 55-45 split between youtube and The Creator this last one gets the 55 so the lion's share for Creators and that is displayedin the dashboard under estimated earnings.

However, there is a huge but: YouTube takes 30% in some other places while you keep 70%, and those areas include YouTube channel memberships.

Some of you may be unfamiliar with YouTube super chats, super stickers, and super thanks, however they take no money from any purchases generated via youtube shopping and you selling things straight to your audience.

Youtube Partner Program

This is one of those situations when what you don't know may really damage you; it's about the YouTube Partner Program in AdSense and what occurs when you join up; if you get this wrong, it'll hurt.

Youtube needs to verify your identity, so the name that you're using on legal documents and the name on the identification that you submit to verify that identity must match exactly; otherwise, you risk never being able to claim your YouTube ad revenue

This has happened to many creators; you don't want it to happen to you.

You also need to register for an Adsense account from the country where you currently reside in.

Therefore, avoid signing up for your YouTube Partner Program and applying for that while you're on vacation or abroad.

I wouldn't even recommend doing it when you're in another state; just do it at home and call it good.

Because if your identity is not properly confirmed, they may simply refuse to pay you for your Adsense

You may want to just concentrate on that one because it's so crucial.

Blocking Ads On Your Channel

If you don't want their money, there is a way to stop certain advertisers from advertising on your YouTube channel. This is really crucial if you don't like political commercials or there are individuals running very sleazy ads on your channel; you can actually ban them forever.

You cannot do this directly from your youtube channel or your monetization panel there, which is unfortunate because that's all Youtubers really understand; they never really go into the Adsense side of it and never do anything outside of The Youtube app on their phone or the creator dashboard. To do this, you must enter the Adsense website as an Adsense publisher.

I thus wish they would just place it there, but you must first log into the Adsense publisher website in order to filter down and prevent certain adverts.

Not All Views Pay equally

If you've been watching  channels for a while, you may already be aware that not all YouTube views are created equal and do not pay equally well. In fact, depending on how drastic the difference is, it could mean a difference of up to 20 times the amount of money you receive per 1000 views on your video on YouTube.

If you work in a niche like gaming, for instance, you might earn one or two dollars per thousand views and think, "Well, at least I'm getting something." However, someone who works in, say, business real estate and does renovations and home improvements might earn 20 to 50 dollars per thousand views. This is a significant difference, and it means that some creators are earning less money overall.

Remember that those of us who create regular content, live streams, and longer form content earn much more money than those who produce shorts or extremely brief videos on which, uh, running advertisements doesn't even make sense. Also, keep in mind that if your video is longer than eight minutes, multiple ads may appear on the same piece of content.

so longer form content podcast obviously they make more money but shorter content less than that less ads less ad revenue even if they got more views but also the niche that you're in matters a lot too because even if you get literally millions of more views than another creator you could be making less than half of the money that they're making sometimes you can be making 10 times less even if you make 10 times more views so just remember not all views are valued equally.

View Location Effects ad Revenue

A ninth fact that you probably didn't realize is that YouTube preference ads base their ad pricing on viewer location, and how radically this varies from country to country.

Ad revenue depends on a lot of audience activity, but it also depends on whether they are in a location where they can see the most lucrative advertising. The majority of profitable advertising is done in English-speaking nations, which are also known as first-world nations with first-world problems. These nations have the highest ad rates, and the highest frequency of monetized views, and their ads, while views in other nations are frequently not served ads, are worth much less, and do not, in most cases, make up the vast majority of your audience.

There isn't much you can do about it for some of you, but for those of you who could be travel channels or language channels, this is something to think about when looking at your audience demographics and understanding the impact that has on your ad income.
